About Receiving Statement of Objections from the European Commission

On November 30, 2023, Resonac Corporation (President: Hidehito Takahashi, hereinafter “Resonac”) and its consolidated subsidiary FIAMM Energy Technology S.p.A. (hereinafter “FET”), which is headquartered in Italy, received Statement of Objections from the European Commission concerning an alleged violation of EU Competition Law in the supply of automotive starter batteries in the European Economic Area (EEA).

Resonac and FET will scrutinize the contents of the Statement and deal with them appropriately.  Resonac and FET will withhold from making further comment on this issue until the European Commission makes a final decision.

“Statement of Objections” is a document describing European Commission’s provisional view on suspicion of violation of EU Competition Law.  Statement of Objections is a document issued in the course of investigation, not describing European Commission’s final decision.  Recipients of the Statement are allowed to express their opinions including objections.  Recipients can also appeal to the European Court of Justice against European Commission’s final decision.
