Resonac Group Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Policies

To become a “Co-creative Chemical Company” aiming to “Change society through the power of chemistry,” the Resonac seeks to utilize the broad technological platform it has built to work hand in hand with customers and various other stakeholders to co-create solutions to social issues.

For the creation of such solutions, we deem it necessary to secure human resources with diverse skills, experience and demographic backgrounds and provide these personnel with working environments where they can demonstrate their respective abilities and generate ideas. We then need to adopt a range of these ideas and transform them into collective knowledge. To meet this requirement, the Resonac defines DE&I as follows and will work to enhance it as a management priority.

Diversity

We define diversity as the unique features of diverse* personnel that we should value.

  • In terms of nationality, race, gender, age, disabilities, religious faith, other backgrounds, sexual orientation, gender identity, skills, experiences and others.

Equity

We define equity as the provision of an environment in which individuals are given equal opportunities to demonstrate their respective abilities.

Inclusion

We define inclusion as the acceptance of individuals’ unique features and the maximization of the value of these features in our organization.

Promotion system

Under the leadership of the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), we work in collaboration with DE&I representatives at each site and Group company to implement a wide range of initiatives, including fostering an inclusive corporate culture, supporting the success of diverse talent, and helping employees achieve a healthy work-life balance.

Education for the promotion of DE&I

Through training on various themes, we aim to help all employees understand the essential elements of DE&I and incorporate those elements into their daily activities.

TOPICSOrganization of co-creative collaboration ability enhancement training

Resonac independently designed a co-creative collaboration ability enhancement training program in which participants deepen their knowledge and understanding of unconscious biases and psychological safety. We expect that executives and other employees will make practical use of what they have learned in such training to build an even more inclusive corporate culture.

Supporting the Advancement of Women

We support the advancement of women and established KPIs to increase the proportion of women in managerial positions to 7% on a consolidated basis in Japan and 13% on a global consolidated basis by the end of 2025. We achieved both targets. We will continue to recruit and promote employees based on their abilities, regardless of gender, and support the continuous growth of female leadership candidates through talent management aimed at developing future leaders.
Regarding the gender pay gap, we aim to continuously narrow the gap by supporting women’s career development, monitoring fair and gender-neutral evaluations, and promoting appropriate ways of working that do not assume long working hours.

In addition to initiatives to support the advancement of women within individual organizations, volunteer members from across organizational boundaries continue to organize networking activities for female employees and events that encourage them to consider their careers. To meet needs such as sharing career concerns and questions with people in similar circumstances or receiving advice from experienced employees, we also hold roundtable discussions and introduce mentors.

In 2025, the proportion of women in managerial positions across the consolidated Resonac Group was 13.3%.

Supporting Work-Family Balance

To enable employees with diverse backgrounds and lifestyles to continue thriving, we have established programs that exceed the statutory requirements under Japan’s Child Care and Family Care Leave Act, as well as programs that support flexible ways of working, including flextime and remote work. We also offer the Papa Campaign, which encourages male employees to take childcare leave, babysitter support services, and return-to-work support programs, including seminars on balancing work and childcare and training on childcare leave management. In addition, we operate the Welcome Back Program, a reemployment program for people who left the Company for various personal life plans or career plans and wish to work for the Company again.

  • Since July 2021, we have offered Kosodate Mirai Concierge, a service that enables employees to search and apply for company-sponsored nursery schools and access childcare information.
  • We have joined the organization Ikubosu Kigyo Domei, formed by an NPO named Fathering Japan.
  • We expressed our support for a project implemented by Sekisui House, Ltd. to encourage men to take parental leave.

TOPICS100% of Male Employees Took Childcare Leave

Since 2008, we have conducted the Papa Campaign to encourage male employees to take childcare leave, and since 2020, we have held childcare leave seminars. These long-standing, steady efforts have increased men’s willingness to participate in housework and childcare and deepened understanding throughout the workplace. As a result, a workplace culture in which male employees can take childcare leave has become firmly established.

TOPICSHolding Seminars on Balancing Work and Caregiving

In December 2025, we held online seminars on balancing work and caregiving, with separate sessions for managers and employees providing care. More than 700 employees participated in the seminars and learned key points for balancing work and caregiving. We will continue working to develop an environment and provide support that enable employees to continue working with peace of mind over the long term.

Employment of People with Disabilities

As part of our efforts to create an environment in which diverse talent can thrive with confidence, we place great importance on disability inclusion. In 2013, we established a promotion team within the diversity project to accumulate expertise in employing people with intellectual, mental, and developmental disabilities and to share this expertise with our sites and Group companies. The team has expanded the range of work it handles, including collecting and delivering internal mail and preparing meeting rooms. In recent years, at the request of various departments, the team has supported the production of more than 70 internal e-learning courses annually, making a significant contribution to knowledge sharing and talent development throughout the Resonac Group. Building on these achievements, we will continue taking on new areas of work. Under our disability inclusion slogan, “Turning Unique Individuality into Strength,” we aim to create high-value-added contributions that directly lead to product quality innovation and enhanced corporate value through automation and greater efficiency. We have also established consultation services staffed by workplace adaptation assistants (job coaches) and vocational life counselors for persons with disabilities to support employees with disabilities and those who work alongside them.

(DE&I: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion)

  3. 3. We will promote employment of persons with disabilities (inclusion of persons with disabilities) with specific targets.

TOPICSDistributing "One-of-a-Kind Supporter" stickers in the company

Having become a participant in The Valuable 500, we are distributing original "One-of-a-Kind Supporter” stickers to employees who agree with our goal of creating an inclusive work environment where people with disabilities and illnesses can feel psychologically safe and demonstrate their individual strengths. We will continue distributing these stickers to participants in in-house events and to those who wish to receive them.

LGBTQ initiatives

Resonac aims to create a safe and comfortable work environment for everyone, including LGBTQ employees. To this end, we have established regulations that prohibit LGBTQ-related discrimination, developed a benefits program for same-sex partners and de facto spouses, provided individualized support such as the use of business pseudonyms, and set up a consultation service. We are also endeavoring to foster an internal culture that accepts diverse gender identities by publishing an LGBTQ handbook to promote understanding of LGBTQ issues, conducting in-house training, and distributing stickers to those who wish to act as allies. In 2023, we endorsed the Business for Marriage Equality campaign, which invites companies that agree with the legalization of same-sex marriage to visibly show their support. And in 2025, we declared our support for "PrideAction30," a company-led initiative to present actions for LGBTQ+ inclusion.

We also provide career training to employees in their late 40s, early 50s and late 50s to support the development of their lives and careers with an eye toward retirement.
