Briefing Held at the Power Module Integration Center (PMiC)
September 09, 2025
Resonac Corporation (President and CEO: Hidehito Takahashi, hereinafter “Resonac”) hosted a briefing session on July 30th at the Power Module Integration Center (PMiC) located inside the Oyama Plant in Oyama City, Tochigi Prefecture. During the event, Keiichi Hatakeyama, head of the PMiC within the CTO Institute for Advanced Integrated Technology, outlined the Center’s objectives, current development trends.
Power modules are key components installed in the inverters *1 of xEVs (electrified vehicles), where they directly influence performance metrics such as driving range and battery capacity. As system voltages rise, heat generated by power loss becomes increasingly problematic. Consequently, power modules face the twin challenges of achieving higher performance—including superior thermal management—and shortening development cycles amid rapid technological advances such as autonomous driving. To address these needs, Resonac established PMiC within the Oyama Plant and launched full-scale operations in 2023, positioning the Center as a co-creation platform for materials development with internal and external partners. *2
PMiC integrates prototyping and assembly with evaluation, verification, and simulation in a single location. Leveraging materials such as SiC epitaxial wafers, sintered‑copper paste, and heat‑resistant encapsulation resins, the Center delivers module‑level, fully optimized solutions that help customers substantially shorten their evaluation timelines.
In May 2024, PMiC was relocated and expanded within the Oyama Plant. The upgrade added new equipment and dedicated co‑creation zones, further accelerating collaboration with customers.
Guided by our corporate purpose— “Change society through the power of chemistry”—Resonac will continue to use PMiC as a hub for broadening co‑creation both inside and outside the company, thereby enhancing energy efficiency in xEVs and advancing a safe, comfortable mobility society.
