Announcement of the Name Changes of Showa Denko Materials' Life Sciences-related Group Companies

Showa Denko Materials Co., Ltd. (President and CEO: Hisashi Maruyama; hereinafter "Showa Denko Materials") announces the change of corporate names and part of the brand names of its life sciences-related group companies to "Minaris."
Showa Denko Materials' life sciences businesses consist of a regenerative medicine business that provides contract manufacturing services for regenerative medicine products as well as a medical business that develops, manufactures, and sells the reagents and the medical devices for in vitro diagnostics. Showa Denko Materials has now introduced "Minaris" to the corporate names of its group companies engaging in these businesses and to the brand name of its regenerative medicine business. The group companies' new corporate and brand names and date of change are as follows.
1. Regenerative medicine business
In addition to the relevant group company names, Showa Denko Materials' Yokohama Site in Japan and other manufacturing bases in the United States and Europe adopted "Minaris Regenerative Medicine" on September 23, 2020 as the brand name of the group's contract manufacturing services for regenerative medicine products. The new unified logo shown below was also introduced on the same day.

2. Medical business
The corporate names of Showa Denko Materials group companies Hitachi Chemical Diagnostics Systems Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "HKDS") and Hitachi Chemical Diagnostics, Inc. are scheduled to change as follows, upon resolutions at the upcoming annual general shareholders' meetings of both companies. The following unified logo will also be used after the name change.
The brand names of the current products of our medical business will be maintained.

As part of our new corporate and brand names, "Minaris" represents a combination of the Japanese word "mirai," or future, and the English word "miracle," and expresses our desire to constantly push the envelope in delivering miracles to patients battling illness. The logo represents the collaboration and cooperation of our group's regenerative medicine and medical businesses.
Under the new corporate and brand names of our life sciences-related group companies, the Showa Denko Materials Group will step up efforts to expand its global contract manufacturing services for regenerative medicine products and develop diagnostic reagents and medical devices, thereby helping to improve the quality of life of many patients.
